QJCCI Student Workshop Series 3: 28 May 2013

Leadership - what is it and why do I need it?
The third QJCCI Workshop event will be held on the 28 May 2013. It is the third of five student orientated sessions and designed to provide understanding and development of leadership skills.

The topic of leadership is regularly covered in the media, whether political, business or international leadership. A good understanding of what leadership really means and why individuals need to develop this important skill is certainly valuable in cross-cultural communications and interactions.

In this student workshop, Chris Whitecross will help participants answer the following questions; What is leadership, why do I need to learn about it and what should I do to develop my leadership ability?

When: 5:30 to 7:30pm on Tuesday 28 May 2013

The ABC's Mark Willacy in tsunami-hit Rikuzentakata following the March 2011 disaster

this reception features special guest speaker Mr Mark Willacy.

Mark's topic for the evening is "A Correspondent's Notebook: Reporting the News from Japan".

Mark Willacy is a former ABC Middle East correspondent and has been the ABC's North Asia correspondent since 2008. He's a two-time winner of Australia's premier journalism prize the Walkley Award - winning it for his coverage of the 2003 Iraq War and for his reporting of the 2011 Japan earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters.

In 2010 he was named Queensland Journalist of the Year and he's also won the prestigious Eureka Prize for Environmental Journalism. Mark has reported for the ABC in more than two dozen countries

This event will be held at Tattersall's Club located at 215 Queen Street, Brisbane from 5.30 to 7.30pm on Tuesday 9 July 2013.

8th Renewable Energy Exhibition: 24-26 July 2013
