The QJCCI’s most popular bonenkai event in years also saw a milestone award handed out to the Chamber’s first intern.
At the November 29 event in Brisbane, QJCCI President Chris Whitecross presented Peter McDermott with a Certificate of Completion for successfully completing the Griffith University internship program from August to October 2018.
Mr McDermott was a final year student, studying a Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics (which included Japanese) at Griffith University.
As part of his final year assessment, he decided to take up the work experience opportunity with the QJCCI to put his studies to use.
Mr McDermott assisted the Chamber with market research and wrote newsletter articles that focused on investment and trade between Japan and Australia. These enabled the Chamber to keep members fully informed on the latest developments in the Japanese investment in Australia, particularly in Queensland.
“The QJCCI was grateful to have had the support of Mr McDermott in the last three months. We look forward to working closely with universities to provide similar opportunities to other interested students in the future,” Mr Whitecross said.
