This was the topic of the QJCCI's September 1, 2026 event, "Queensland and Japan: Building Successful and Sustainable Critical Minerals Supply Chains" at InterContinental Brisbane.
Held in partnership with QJCCI Premium Member, global law firm DLA Piper, the sold-out event attracted a record audience of approximately 140 registrations, demonstrating the strong level of business interest in the critical minerals sector.
QJCCI President Martin Spann opened the event by welcoming the panellists and VIP guests, with the former comprising the Hon. Dale Last MP, Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development; Mr Gerhard Redelinghuys, Managing Director, M Critical Minerals; Mr Campbell Jones, CEO, RZ Resources Limited; and Mr SHINKAWA Tatsuya, General Manager, Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC).
VIP guests included Mr ISHIKAWA Katsutoshi, Consul General of Japan in Brisbane and Ms Michelle Matthews, Global Investment Commissioner, Trade and Investment Queensland, together with representatives of Japanese trading houses and other dignitaries from the Queensland-Japan business and government community.
